Adoption Profile For Self-Matching

Adoption Profile For Self-Matching

If you are self-matching your adoption, you are likely curious what type of adoption profile you need to be sharing with expectant parents. You don’t want to waste your time or money creating things that won’t be used. Wouldn’t it be nice if you knew what people were using to self-match, and wouldn’t it be even better if it were super easy to not only know what to do but how to do it too? Well, that is precisely what we are going to cover in this blog, what you need in your adoption profile for self-matching.

Struggling with Knowing What You Need To Self-Match Your Adoption?

If you are self-matching your adoption, you may be struggling with what you need for your adoption profile. Do you need a book? Do you just post on social media? What do you need? In this post, I am sharing what elements my clients have found success in as they have self-matched their adoptions and will give you some pointers on what you need for your journey.

Before we dive into the elements, we need to think about how you will share them. I like to start at the 40,000 ft view and think of it in real life and digital sharing situations.

Sharing Your Adoption Profile in Real Life

Sharing in real life will be primarily impacted by your comfort level of what you are comfortable in sharing in real life. But the idea is there is something physical that you can share and pass along to other people who may be considering adoption or that might know someone who is considering adoption. When I talk about physically sharing your profile, I'm sure your mind instantly went to a profile book, but it doesn't have to be that elaborate. Find what fits your purpose for different situations. Then, think of something that can be quickly passed along depending on the scenario.

Examples of this would be a business card, brochure, or in some cases, a profile book. When you think about sharing your adoption profile in real life, think about who in your network could be coming in contact with people that are choosing to place for adoption or considering placed for adoption. Then consider what you could pass along to them. Should it be a business card, a brochure, an actual book? Of course, you could always choose different things, but make sure it is a practical option to share in real life no matter what you choose.

Sharing Your Adoption Profile Digitally

When it comes to sharing your profile digitally, the first thing you've got to do is make sure it is legal in your state. I have a resource inside my adoption coach Facebook group, under the guide sections, that can help you with this. When you are digitally sharing your profile, there are a few different things that you need to think about to determine what is right for you and if you are going to be sharing it through social media.

There are so many benefits to sharing your adoption profile digitally. The first benefit is that sight and sound make a deeper connection. This is just a fancy way of saying, do you need a video? Consider if you need some sort of audio narration of your life or other elements that allow you to create that deeper connection.

When creating content to share on your social profiles such as Instagram or Facebook, think about how they are receiving and reviewing the profile. If you find this overwhelming, I teach a very specific formula that is helping my clients find success. It's called the social media response framework, where I teach you exactly what to say, on your posts, in Facebook groups, and exactly how to make sure that your Facebook profile shows up.

Now, based on that, you will have a better understanding of what you need to share your profile in real life and digitally.

Here are the top two ways my current clients find success in their self-matching adoption journey.

Adoption Social media accounts: Facebook

It is essential to know this to be set up for success. The type of Facebook account matters, and what you post matters. You can do self-match adoption with and without paid social media ads, though the ads make it go faster. You should know that not everyone can do this based on state law.

Adoption Profile Book

People typically share their profile book with attorneys in their area and in states that they want to adopt, via a pdf and a website that offers an interactive profile. Don’t just create a book; create an interactive profile. You need to make sure you include video and audio. These two elements are super important for making a deeper connection. Give yourself the flexibility to share a book in real life too.

You don’t have to feel overwhelmed about adoption profiles for self-match adoptions. I am here to help you every step of the way, friend.
